24-7 prayer

My current reading material, Red Moon Rising, is an awesome book. It is very challenging, humbling etc. The vision of this movement is wrapped up in a poem written by its fonder. This is the easiest way I could find to share it. Please click below or copy and paste in your browser.

I think God could use this to speak to you. I know he did me.

Replace Confusion With Peace and God's Guidance

God is not the author of confusion but of peace. (1 Cor. 14:3)

God hasn't given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. (2 Tim. 1:7)

Envy and strive produce confusion. Wisdom from above is peaceful, gentle, merciful, impartial, and not hypocritical. (James 3:16-18)

The Lord will help me not to be confounded. I have set my face like a flint and will not be ashamed. (Isaiah 50:7)

Don't think your trials or strange or unusual, rather rejoice that you are partaking in Christ's sufferings which will ultimately produce gladness and joy. (1 Peter 4:12-13)

If you lack wisdom, ask God and He will give it to you. (James 1:5)

Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

God will instruct you, teach you, and guide you in the way that you should go. (Psalm 32:8)

You will have great peace if you love God's law and you will not be offe nded. (Psalm 119:165)

Cast your burdens on the Lord and he will sustain you. He will not let the righteous be moved. (Psalm 55:22)

God will be with you even if you pass through the water or fire and you will be safe. (Isaiah 43:2)

He gives power and strength to the weak and the faint. (Isaiah 40:29)

Your ears will hear a word saying, 'This is the way, walk in it,' (Isaiah 30:21)

Do not worry about anything, rather through prayer and supplication let your requests be known to God and the peace of God which passes all understanding will guard your heart and mind through Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:6-7)

Humility

Philippians 2:3&4. "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others."

God interrrupts human agendas

Today, the holy spirit took over the service. Pastor had a plan. But God cared so much for us that He nterrupted that plan to touch, heal and bless.

One day Jesus was going up in a religious procession when He heard aman by the name of Batamaes cry out for help. Bartamaeus was a blind man who cried out"Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" Jesus stopped the whole procession so this man could be helped. Jesus cares much more about the needs of people than our religious agendas. Praise God!

Why is Forgiveness So Important?

  • If we don't forgive others, God won't forgive us. (Matthew 6:14-15)
  • We should forgive often and always. (Matthew 18:21-22)
  • If a brother sins against you, rebuke him and forgive him if he repents. (Luke 17:3)
  • As we pray we should forgive others so God will forgive us. (Mark 11:25)
  • With Christ as our example, we should forgive others as he forgave us. (Col. 3:13)
  • Vengeance belongs to the Lord. (Hebrews 10:30).
  • Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who use you and persecute you. (Matthew 5:44)
  • Don't be overcome by evil, rather overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:21)
  • Don't render evil for evil or railing for railing, on the contrary render blessings, and you will inherit blessings. (1 Peter 3:9-10)
  • Remove bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, evil speaking, and malice from your life. Instead be kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving, as God is to you. (Ephesians 4:31-32)

"The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me..."

(Psa 138:6-8) Though the LORD is on high, he looks upon the lowly, but the proud he knows from afar. {7} Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes, with your right hand you save me. {8} The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O LORD, endures forever-- do not abandon the works of your hands.

What an awesome thought! God not only has a plan and a purpose for my life, but He will fulfill it! All we have to do is submit and surrender to Him and let Him handle the rest! It's a great comfort to know that our role is simply to live in submission to Him and He does the work. I know that we must be willing to step out in faith, but He brings His plans to fruition!

Live upright. (Psalm 37:37)

Be spiritually minded. (Romans 8:6)

Love God's law. (Psalm 119:165)

Re-Life Verse

Although all scripture is great and useful (2Tim 3?) I guess if I had to pick a verse or two. It would be Phillipians 3:10-11.
"I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death and so somehnow to attain to the resurrection from the dead."
I guess that bottom for me is it's basically why we were created........to know Him.

A good quote

I am reading a bood on the 24/7 prayer movement called Red Moon Rising. Read a good quote I thought I would share.
"...And when we get our heads around God's character, prayer, devotion and discipleship ceases to be a technique and becomes an instinct." (Grieg and Roberts, p.14) .

Life Verse

Many Christians have a verse, or a few verses, they consider a "life verse". A "life verse" is a verse that God has spoken strongly to their heart that has become a recurring theme. For me that verse is Matthew 6:33. "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

We all need to seek Him first every day. It's easy to get caught up in so many other things besides the Lord Himself. Even legitimate concerns (financial needs, relationships, jobs, etc.) are valid. We just don't need to worry about them. There is often a fine line between worrying and putting necessary thought and planning into our lives. I think that we need to strive to let the Lord guide and lead our thoughts and plans regarding all of these things.

Just an encouraging word from The Word tonight. The Lord fights for His people!(Psalms 37).

Welcome to Our Bible Study Blog

Current contibutors to this blog are Mike Wilhelm Tom Windsor, and Johnny Sharp. Our initial goal for this blog is to have a place to record ideas and thoughts that we glean from our own personal Bible studies, sermons we hear, and other Bible lessons. We are leaving this blog in God's hands and we will let Him take it wherever He wants. The following statement is necessary to provide readers with a general framework and premise of the beliefs of contributors to this blog. We approach the Scripture as the authoritative Word of God.

The following "Statement of Faith" is from the National Association of Evangelicals.

• We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

• We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

• We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

• We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

• We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

• We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

• We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
